Vasco ventilation unit makes noise

Does your Vasco ventilation unit, HRU, or ventilation motor make more noise than usual? A humming, grinding, rattling, or whining sound often indicates wear, contamination, imbalance, or a motor that is no longer running smoothly.

Possible causes

  • Worn bearings or rotating parts.
  • Contamination of fan or motor.
  • Imbalance of the fan wheel.
  • Wear of motor or mounting rubbers.

What can you check yourself?

Listen carefully to the type of sound and check if the sound changes at a different ventilation setting. Always disconnect the power to the ventilation unit before opening or inspecting it.
