Worn bearings are a common cause of noise, vibrations, and a stiff motor in R-Vent ventilation units. Timely intervention can often prevent further damage to the motor.

  • Grinding, humming or squealing noise.
  • A progressively louder hum.
  • Motor runs stiffly or irregularly.
  • Vibrations in the ventilation unit.
  • Reduced ventilation performance.

How do bearing problems arise?

  • Normal wear and tear from years of use.
  • Dirt or dust around rotating parts.
  • Moisture or contamination in the ventilation unit.
  • Imbalance of fan or motor.
  • Prolonged motor load.

When are bearings due for replacement?

A bearing that starts to wear often first makes a slight grinding or humming sound. As wear increases, hums, vibrations, and reduced performance become increasingly apparent. Therefore, do not wait too long to prevent further damage to the motor.

Overhaul or complete replacement?
