Duco ventilation unit making noise

Is your Duco ventilation unit or HRV unit making more noise than usual? A humming, grinding, rattling or whistling sound often indicates wear, fouling, or a motor that is no longer running smoothly. In many cases, overhaul is a sustainable solution.

  • Worn bearings or rotating parts.
  • Contamination of fan or motor.
  • Imbalance of the fan wheel.
  • Wear of motor or mounting rubbers.

What can you check yourself?

Listen carefully to the type of sound and check if the sound changes when you choose a different ventilation setting. Always disconnect the ventilation unit from power before opening or inspecting it.

When is overhaul possible?
