Duco ventilation unit no longer running

Is your Duco ventilation unit or HRV unit not running at all anymore? The cause could be the motor, bearings, circuit board, power supply, or control system. In many cases, repair or overhaul is still possible.

What do you notice?

  • The ventilation unit no longer responds.
  • There is no or hardly any air movement.
  • The motor tries to start but doesn't get going.
  • The ventilation unit remains completely silent or only hums.

Possible causes

  • Defective or seized motor.
  • Worn bearings or stiff-running components.
  • Problems with the circuit board, power supply, or control system.
  • Wear or fouling of the ventilation motor.

What can you check yourself?

First, check if the ventilation unit is receiving power and if the controls are working correctly. Listen if the motor remains completely silent or tries to start up. Always disconnect the power to the ventilation unit before opening or inspecting it.

Can the motor still be repaired?
