Brink HRV unit making noise
Is your Brink Flair, Renovent, or Air 70 making more noise than usual? A humming, grinding, rattling, or whining sound can indicate contamination, imbalance, worn bearings, or a defective fan motor.
What do you hear?
- A humming or buzzing sound.
- Grinding, whining, or rattling.
- Vibrations in the unit or ducts.
- More noise at a higher ventilation setting.
Possible causes
- Worn bearings.
- Contaminated or damaged fan.
- Imbalance of the fan impeller.
- Resonance or loose mounting.
Also check the filters
Heavily soiled filters increase resistance and can cause fans to work harder. Replace or clean filters according to the device's instructions.
Does the noise persist?
Send us the model number and a short video where the sound is audible. This will help us better assess the possible cause.
Have malfunction assessedWhen is motor overhaul worthwhile?
In case of clear bearing noises, heavy running, or mechanical wear, repair or overhaul of the motor may be possible.
