Brink malfunction

Brink bearings worn

Worn bearings in a Brink HRV unit can cause scraping, whining, humming, and vibrations. By having the motor assessed in a timely manner, further damage can possibly be prevented.

Have motor assessed

Symptoms

  • Scraping, whining, or screeching sound.
  • A humming sound that slowly intensifies.
  • Vibrations in the HRV unit.
  • The fan runs heavily or irregularly.

Possible causes

  • Normal wear and tear due to prolonged use.
  • Dirt or moisture near moving parts.
  • Imbalance of the fan wheel.
  • Prolonged mechanical stress.

Do not wait until the motor seizes

Severely worn bearings can cause additional damage to the fan, shaft, motor, or electronics. Therefore, have any distinctly abnormal bearing noise assessed in time.

Send a video of the motor

Include the model number and a short video of the sound. This will help us better assess whether bearing overhaul is possible.
