Buva malfunction

Buva ventilation unit not extracting properly

Is your Buva ventilation unit or HRU unit extracting less effectively? Does moisture linger in the bathroom, do cooking odours dissipate less quickly, or do you notice little air movement? The cause could be contamination, wear, a motor problem, or a malfunction in the control system.

What do you notice?

  • Poor extraction in the bathroom, kitchen, or toilet.
  • Moisture remains longer after showering.
  • Cooking odours dissipate less quickly.
  • The ventilation unit is running but moves little air.

Possible causes

  • Contaminated valves or ventilation ducts.
  • Worn motor or bearings.
  • Problems with the control system or operation.
  • Contaminated fan or fan wheel.

What can you check yourself?

Check if the valves are clean and if the ventilation unit responds when you select a different ventilation setting. For an HRU unit, also check the filters. If the extraction remains insufficient, the cause may lie in the ventilation motor or fan.

When is an overhaul necessary?

When the ventilation unit has been thoroughly cleaned but the extraction remains insufficient, wear of the motor or bearings could be the cause. In many cases, an overhaul is then a cost-effective alternative to replacement.
